Cambodian tour enriches lives of local women as well as philanthropic travellers.

Wildland Adventures and Americans for UNFPA announce latest donor delegation tour, October 17-25, 2010

SEATTLE, Wash (June 1, 2010) – The latest philanthropy travel adventure presented by Wildland Adventures (Wildland) and Americans for UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) (UNFPA) is a nine-day Cambodia Leadership Tour, October 17-25, 2010, with the opportunity to extend the trip with a seven-day tour of Laos.

This is the third donor delegation trip that Wildland and Americans for UNFPA have partnered on since announcing the series of philanthropic travel programs last year. Tours to Ethiopia (October 2009) and Guatemala (March 2010) were both successful in raising funds and awareness. All of the tours include a tax-deductible donation to Americans for UNFPA, supporting the work of the UNFPA on behalf of women and children globally.

UNFPA is the largest international provider of women’s health care and promotes the rights of women and girls in 150 countries around the world. Americans for UNFPA builds moral, political and financial support within the United States, and developed the philanthropic travel programs to not only provide participants with in depth exposure to UNFPA projects, but also give them the opportunity to contribute to the solutions. At the same time, travelers are offered genuine insight into the culture, history and peoples of the regions visited, through expertly guided exploration and site visits, arranged by award winning Wildland Adventures, named the #1 Best Adventure Outfitter on Earth by National Geographic Adventure magazine last year.

The cost for the Cambodia Leadership Tour starts at US$6945.00 per person and includes a $1250.00 tax deductible donation to UNFPA, accommodation and most meals. During the Cambodia Leadership Tour, philanthropic travelers will meet with Cambodian government ministers and visit UNFPA supported shelters for at-risk children, youth organizations and AIDS and health clinics. Escorted by a senior member of the Americans for UNFPA team, Cambodian UNFPA field staff and professional Cambodian guides arranged for by Wildland, the delegation will focus on women’s reproductive health, population and development, and gender issues.

These visits are conducted in the most exquisite countryside highlighted by ancient temple architecture considered by many to be unequalled in beauty anywhere on earth. In addition, the tour visits several important historical sites, including the Royal Palace, the Genocide Museum, the killing fields, and of course, the most famous temple in the world - Angkor Wat, including a sunset hot air balloon ride above Angkor Wat.

At the conclusion of the Cambodian program, a seven-day extension is available to Vientiene and Luang Prabang in Laos, where UNFPA delegates explore the Khmer architecture, embark on Mekong River trip, and have the opportunity to become immersed in this fascinating culture. Cost for the extended trip starts at US$3795.00 per person and includes accommodations and most meals as well as a $200.00 donation to UNFPA.
